Mapping Sites |
GIS for
the Internet
The GIS
websites hosted by the GIS
Department provide tools to a
variety of stakeholders to
gather information and make
decisions.
The sites
are created with customized
client-side interfaces which
make the usability dynamic and
powerful.
To keep
current with website
technology, newer websites are
being created with Silverlight
and Flex applications.
These two application styles
bring current technology to
the mapping sites while also
providing a more stylish
design and layout.

ArcGIS Server
ArcGIS Server
provides the foundation for
distributing high-end geographic
information systems (GIS) and mapping
services via the Internet. ArcGIS
Server software enables users to
integrate local data sources with
Internet data sources for display,
query, and analysis in an easy-to-use
Web browser.
ArcGIS Server
revolutionizes the way users can
access and interact with Internet
mapping and GIS data.
Public Access
By far, the most diverse and particular
stakeholder is the general public.
Providing the most up-to-date
information to not only our internal
enterprise users, but also the general
public gives all of our users the tools
to make constructive and well-thought
decisions.
Behind the scenes
We host and manage our own web and GIS
servers. Doing so allows us to maximize
our investment into GIS. We are able to
custom code the many different sites we
have to make them interact with the
public in different ways. One site may
interact with a database miles away and
others very simple. By us controlling it
all, we are able to provide
functionality and a level of support
unprecedented in our area.
